Awkward Nerd Spelling Bee

Awkward Nerd Spelling Bee

~ A spelling bee with a geeky twist ~

We're excited to announce the First Annual Awkward Nerd Spelling Bee at the Cactus Club on June 11, 2023!

Know how many e’s are in Wookiee? Savvy on the correct spelling of the homeworld of the Time Lords? What about the material Captain America’s shield is made from? It's a big, big geek world out there, think you have the spelling chops to take it all on in a geek-themed spelling competition?

Hosted at the Cactus Club and moderated by Milwaukee Record and special guests, the First Annual Awkward Nerd Spelling Bee will put local nerds to the test. Throughout the day we'll invite audience participation, host spell-offs, and otherwise engage in general geekery. There will also be themed cocktails/mocktails, a free photobooth, and a food truck for hungry speller noms.

DJ Tony will be spinning Bee-themed hits all day!

There will be 25 individual spots for confident spellers to sign up for. Registration goes live - May 12 at 10am CDT. The cost to register is $20.

All participants will receive a lanyard with name badge for the event. Winner will have their name engraved on the Official Awkward Nerd Spelling Bee trophy and will get a mini version of the trophy to take home. All other participants will receive a Challenge Coin/medallion.

Attendees: Wanna be part of the crowd and cheer your favorite speller on? Entrance will be $5 cash at the door.

Event is 18+. Hosted in partnership with Milwaukee Record and Cactus Club.
